A former senior manager at the Swedish Police Authority is being charged with inciting a data breach, writes Dagens Nyheter.

According to the indictment, which TT has also seen, the man instructed staff in early 2022 to carry out data breaches in the Police Authority's systems, such as the criminal record and the suspect register. This has occurred in connection with security checks to prevent unsuitable people from getting work within the Police Authority or continuing to work.

Beatings have also been carried out on family members. In total, there are hundreds of beatings carried out by a variety of people, the newspaper writes.

At the beginning of 2025, all registry searches were stopped because they could be illegal. Registry checks are to be carried out by the Security Service.

The police reported the former boss to the police this spring and he is now being charged. The man denies any wrongdoing.
