Czech ice hockey is in mourning.
Former NHL defender Tomas Kloucek has died in a skiing accident, just 45 years old.
"We have received sad news. Tomas Kloucek has died after a tragic accident...We send the family and his loved ones much strength and our condolences", writes his former Czech club Trinec on X.
According to information in Czech media, Kloucek died after crashing into an electric pole on a ski slope in the Czech ski resort Spindleruv Mlyn.
Kloucek played a total of 114 NHL matches in New York Rangers, Nashville and Atlanta. He ended his ice hockey career in 2017.
