The 37-year-old Brown was arrested by American police in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates and then brought to the United States.
The incident occurred in Miami in May. Brown is accused of taking a gun from a security guard and firing two shots at a man he had been in a fight with earlier in the evening. One of the shots grazed the victim's neck.
If convicted, Brown faces up to 15 years in prison.
Brown's NFL history is fraught with controversy, and in 2020 he was suspended for eight games for repeated violations of league rules. In 2022, he was fired by Tampa Bay. He has also been accused of assault in the past.
