The Chinese Football Association has banned 73 people for life for corruption and involvement in match-fixing.

Among those convicted are former Chinese men's national team captain Li Tie, and Chen Xuyuan, the former chairman of the Chinese Football Association. Nine clubs in the Chinese top flight were also docked points, and several were fined heavily.

The now 48-year-old Li Tie led China's football team in 2020–2021. As an active player, he represented both the national team and Premier League club Everton.

In late 2024, he was sentenced to 20 years in prison for corruption, while Chen Xuyuan received a life sentence after they accepted bribes worth several million dollars.
