Nearly a hundred people have so far been confirmed dead after the roof collapsed on a nightclub in the capital of the Dominican Republic, Santo Domingo.

One of the dead is Octavio Dotel, who during his 15-year long career in the North American baseball league MLB was a pitcher for 13 different clubs.

With St Louis Cardinals, he was part of the team that won the World Championship 2011. Dotel had twelve appearances in the playoffs, including five in the final series against Texas.

Dotel made his MLB debut in 1999 with New York Mets, who held a minute of silence before their match against Miami on Tuesday for Dotel, who was 51 years old.

In total, between 500 and 1,000 people were inside the nightclub when the accident occurred.
