Former Leksand coach Sjur Robert Nilsen takes over as national team captain for Norway's ice hockey men.

As assistant coach he gets Jonas Holøs, who has won SM gold with Färjestad.

One of my dreams has been to become head coach for the Norwegian national team. It will be fun and I hope we can achieve the results we are aiming for, says Nilsen, who was both assistant and head coach in Leksand 2013-16.

Nilsen replaces Tobias Johansson who resigned after a poor World Championship result in Stockholm/Herning where Norway finished twelfth. Norway also failed to qualify for the Olympic Games in Milan in February.

Earlier this summer it became clear that Patrick Thoresen, who was involved and played to promote Djurgården to SHL, becomes sports responsible for the Norwegian men's national team.
