Davis was not convicted of firing the fatal shots at Shakur in 1996, but the jury found that he ordered the murder. The 63-year-old Davis, who faces life in prison, is scheduled to be sentenced on October 13.
After the verdict was announced in the courtroom, Davis raised his hand and said he wanted to appeal, AP reports. However, that can only happen after the sentence has been decided, the judge is reported to have replied.
Prosecutors in the case have previously argued that Shakur was murdered in a gang-related revenge attack. In the 1990s, Davis was the leader of the South Side Compton Crips - a patchwork of gangs that controlled parts of Los Angeles.
The motive for the murder was allegedly that Davis' nephew had been subjected to a humiliating beating by a rival gang, of which Tupac Shakur was a part, in front of cameras. Two and a half hours later, the rapper was shot dead in a drive-by shooting from a white Cadillac.
Davis has repeatedly admitted to his role in the murder over the years in various interviews and in his autobiography. However, according to his lawyers, what was written was fabricated and Davis has denied all charges during the trial.
