Ekholm will take office on November 1 this year, reports Dagens Industri.
“Börje’s return brings not only deep knowledge of Nasdaq’s DNA as a catalyst for market innovation, but also a rare combination of strategic vision and operational discipline,” said Adena Friedman, Nasdaq’s chair and CEO, in a press release.
Ekholm stepped down as Ericsson’s CEO on September 30 this year after just over nine years in the position.
He served on Nasdaq’s board of directors between 2011 and 2017.
Ekholm now says he is honored to rejoin “at such an important time” in Nasdaq’s strategic development.
