A former minister in Cuba, Alejandro Gil, has been sentenced to life in prison for espionage and economic crime, the country's Supreme Court announced in a statement.
The court did not specify what Gil is accused of doing, and the trial was held behind closed doors.
Gil was the country's Minister of Economy between 2018 and 2024. Cuba also has a separate Minister of Finance.
