César Jáuregui, former chief prosecutor of the state of Chihuahua, is accused of launching an operation with the CIA to take down a drug laboratory in northern Mexico without informing the federal government.
The operation came to light after two CIA agents and two state officials died in a car accident on the way back.
Jáuregui was arrested on October 17 and initially charged with misconduct in office. The charge of treason was added later.
