Ahlerup replaces Johan Strömwall, who was fired last week.
"I enter the assignment with great respect for the situation Mora IK finds itself in," he says in a statement on Mora's website.
According to information provided to Expressen, a lack of control over the finances was one reason Strömwall was forced to leave.
The Swedish Hockey League starts on September 18th.
