When the rare first edition of “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” was published in 1997, it sold for £4.99 - long before the young wizard took the world by storm.

A copy, which had been forgotten in a book reviewer's attic in Scotland for 30 years, has now been sold for £17,000, equivalent to 213,000 kronor.

A book expert says the sale far surpasses the previous world record for a first edition of “Harry Potter” paperback, which sold at the same auction house last year for £12,000. The expert says the book’s perfect condition played a key role in attracting collectors’ interest.
