The art dealer owns a gallery in Florida and is said to have offered customers paintings that he claimed to have bought directly from Andy Warhol's art foundation. The other man claimed to work for an auction firm in New York and provided false receipts stating that the works were original, which they were not.
If convicted, the art dealer and the other man can face up to 30 and 20 years in prison, respectively.
In 2023, another art dealer in Florida was sentenced to two years and three months in prison for selling fake Andy Warhol paintings.
Warhol was an American artist, graphic designer, and filmmaker, and is considered one of the leading figures of pop art.
