Friday's warning covers, in principle, all of Götaland and Svealand, except for the westernmost coastal areas - from Helsingborg in the south to Strömstad in the north - and extends up to Söderhamn and Bollnäs.
A similar warning has been issued for Saturday, with slightly different boundaries. For Saturday, SMHI also warns that the risk of grass fires is high or very high in central and northern Norrland.
Forest fires can easily start from open burning, sparks from machinery or lightning strikes, SMHI said. Anyone who wants to light a fire should be very careful and first check whether a fire ban is in place.
