After discussions on Sunday, the reassuring news came. Despite the forest fire, the third stage of this year's Tour de France will go ahead.
However, for safety reasons, no spectators are allowed on the final part of the stage.
The public is asked not to go near the course or the finish area, says Pierre Regnault de la Mothe, an official with the local authorities in the area.
More than 700 firefighters are battling the 1,500-hectare blaze, which is burning about 70 kilometres from Les Angles, where the third stage of this year's Tour de France will finish on Monday.
After two stages, Dane Jonas Vingegaard leads.
