A forest fire broke out on Tuesday near the city of Corinth in Greece. The authorities are urging residents of several villages to evacuate.

Over 180 firefighters are fighting the fire with the support of 15 aircraft and twelve helicopters. It is a pine forest in the mountains outside Corinth that is burning. There are no reports of injured people.

Right now, the soil is dry after a heatwave that has brought around 40 degrees throughout Greece.

On Tuesday, a helicopter also crashed into the sea. It was participating in the extinguishing of another fire near the capital Athens. The three crew members could be rescued and taken to hospital.

Forest and terrain fires are common during the dry, warm Greek summers and dozens have been fought so far this year.
