The Swedish Forest Agency, together with forest owners, has now assessed the damage after a storm that swept across southern Sweden over the Easter weekend.

The worst affected is Västra Götaland County, where around one million cubic meters of forest were knocked down. In Jönköping County, it is estimated that just under 500,000 cubic meters of forest have been damaged, while a similar amount has been knocked down in neighboring counties such as Östergötland, Kalmar, Kronoberg, Halland and Örebro.

"The fact that there is widespread damage has made estimating the extent of the damage especially difficult," says Mattias Sparf, regional damage coordinator at the Swedish Forest Agency, in a press release.
