Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard (M) views the U.S. threat to take control of Greenland in a new light after the attack in Venezuela.

Now it's no longer just words from the American administration that are different from what we are used to. We also see that they are prepared to act quickly, she says in Ekot's Saturday interview.

Malmer Stenergard says she now has to assume that US President Donald Trump intends to do what he says he will.

Now the rhetoric has escalated further. I take that very, very seriously, she says.

She believes that the arguments put forward by US President Donald Trump as reasons for taking control of the island are based on incorrect assumptions. She highlights that the Chinese presence is not as large as Trump claims and that Denmark is investing in Greenland for defense.
