After the US stock markets closed, Ford released new interim figures and raised its full-year forecast. The company had previously guided for a pre-tax profit of at least $10 billion. It now forecasts a range of $10.5 billion to $11 billion.
According to the company, consumers have remained resilient despite rising inflation in its important home market, the US. However, Ford warns that the war in the Middle East could increase raw material costs and reduce interest in gasoline-powered cars as gasoline prices rise.
Competitor General Motors has also previously highlighted the negative impact of factors such as rising copper prices.
