The car manufacturer Ford has announced that around 4,000 jobs will disappear from European production by 2027. The majority of the cuts are expected to affect Germany.
On Wednesday, 11,500 employees at a factory in Cologne, Germany, will begin a 24-hour strike. According to AFP, the trade union IG Metall has broken off negotiations with the employer and will not resume them until Ford makes an "acceptable offer".
The trade union's demands, among other things, require Ford to provide support to the German subsidiary. Ford has previously promised to provide financial resources to keep production going in Germany.
