The company behind Norway Chess is behind the concept of the "Total Chess World Championship Tour".
Now Haaland is getting involved.
“I am investing in Norway Chess because I believe that the 'Total Chess World Championship Tour' can make chess an even bigger spectator sport worldwide,” says the Manchester City star.
The concept will be launched in 2027 with an annual prize pool of at least $2.7 million - which corresponds to around 25 million Swedish kronor.
"That Erling is with us as an investor says a lot about the commercial potential of this tournament," says Norway Chess CEO Kjell Madland in the press release.
