"It felt like a natural step in my football career to accept the national team and it is of course a great honor," the 25-year-old tells Häcken's website.
Nyström has roots in both Sweden and Finland and she has played in the Swedish girls' and youth national teams, but has not had a chance in the senior national team.
“When the opportunity with Finland came, it felt obvious,” she says.
Nyström could make his debut this evening in an international match against Austria.
