The Swedish Society for Nature Conservation has investigated the presence of pesticides in, among other things, apples, grapes, wheat flour, rapeseed oil and tomatoes, the group said in a press release.
One conventionally grown apple contained a “cocktail of seven different substances.”
Regular food should not contain a cocktail of pesticides. But our review shows that this is often exactly what consumers are ingesting when they buy conventionally grown food, says Karin Lexén, Secretary General of the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation.
These chemicals are spread in nature - and remain on the food we eat.
Almost no pesticides were found in the organic foods.
