"It's a bit special," says Helena Thorn Kullenberg after she poured the first glasses of beer.

In Helsingborg municipality, Wayne's Coffee was the first to receive the permit. It arrived digitally in the morning. A few hours later, the fridge was filled with wine, beer, cider and bubbly.

We have a large outdoor terrace. We have a lot of tourists in the summer, and then there is often someone who wants a cake, and someone else who wants a glass of wine.

Not an open bar

During the day, alcohol has barely been served, partly because they haven't posted any signs about the change, and Thorn Kullenberg is unsure whether that's something they will do in the future.

"It won't be our main business. The plan is not to open a bar either. We hope to be able to cater to a whole group with different needs," she says.

The time it takes to approve an application varies from municipality to municipality. Daniel Nilsson, who runs Jaktens kiosk and minigolf in Ystad, has also applied early, but has not yet had his application approved.

"I spoke to my case manager just today. They have a lot to do right now, but she thinks it will be in place on Wednesday," says Nilsson.

Waiting calmly

Fredrik Lindqvist, who owns an ice cream and coffee kiosk in central Stockholm, is also waiting for approval.

I can wait another day with peace of mind. This is something long-term and something that will hopefully brighten up the entire summer and fall.
