Regular prices for food in grocery stores fell by 0.2 percent in May compared to April, according to Matpriskollen's monthly statistics, based on 43,000 items.
Compared with a year ago, food prices are 5.6 percent lower, which is explained by the VAT reduction on April 1.
"No major effects of the war in the Middle East have yet been seen in store prices," wrote Ulf Mazur, CEO of Matpriskollen.
However, fewer animals being slaughtered is having an impact on meat prices. Beef rose slightly further in May and is 17 percent more expensive than a year ago.
