The American rock band Foo Fighters has terminated their drummer Josh Freese, who has played with them since 2023.
Freese was not given any reasons for having to quit, other than that "Foo Fighters want to go in a different direction with their drummer". He announces this on social media, according to Pitchfork.
"I have appreciated my two years with them, both on and off stage, and support the decision they think is best for the band", writes Freese, adding that he is not angry – just "a little shocked and disappointed".
He took over in 2023, after the band's drummer Taylor Hawkins passed away the year before – who, next to the singer Dave Grohl, was the band's most prominent member. Freese has previously played with, among others, Guns N' Roses, Nine Inch Nails, Paramore and Devo.
