According to the index, the average price for airline tickets from Gothenburg to destinations in Europe during week 46 is 1,499 kronor. This can be compared to the average price of 892 kronor from Stockholm and 831 kronor from Copenhagen, writes the price comparison site Travelmarket in a press release.
Particularly large differences are found to several of the most popular destinations such as Paris and Barcelona.
Peter Grönberg is the CEO of Göteborg & Co, a municipal company that works with developing and marketing the tourism industry in the city. He says that air travel is important for Gothenburg as a tourist city, especially considering that interest from southern Europe to come to Gothenburg has increased.
For the long-term attraction of Gothenburg as a destination, it is obvious that it is important to have a competitive price structure, but also that there are good direct routes.
He says that they are in dialogue with the airport owner Swedavia, primarily when it comes to the possibility for international visitors to be able to fly directly to Gothenburg.
It facilitates our work if we want to attract large international conferences and meetings or major sports events, says Peter Grönberg.
The Swedish flight price index is published every fourth week by the price comparison site Travelmarket based on an overview of the cheapest return flights to the ten most popular European and intercontinental destinations.
