Philadelphia has submitted a monster bid for a five-year contract worth $18 million, equivalent to just over 173 million kronor, per season.

Carlsson is a restricted free agent, which means Anaheim has first refusal for the Swedish centre. If Anaheim chooses to match the offer, he will remain in California. The club has seven days to make a decision.

If Anaheim chooses not to match the bid, the team will be compensated with four of Philadelphia's first-round draft picks over the next four years.

Leo Carlsson scored 67 points (29 goals + 38 assists) in 70 regular-season games with Anaheim last season.

Trying to take over a contract that Philadelphia is now making is sensitive and the club writes on its website: "The Flyers will not make any further comments until Anaheim makes its decision to match the offer or accept the draft picks."
