55 people have been rescued after the severe flooding in Nepal. The search for 19 missing people is still ongoing. Nine have previously been confirmed dead.
The flooding of the Bhotekoshi river occurred early on Tuesday and destroyed, among other things, the Friendship Bridge at Rasuwagadi, 12 miles north of the capital Kathmandu. Several houses and trucks that were parked at the border for customs inspections were also swept away.
Monsoon rain from June to September often causes severe flooding in Nepal, which puts lives at risk and severely affects the infrastructure.
