The search for the man suspected of shooting dead two police officers at a farm in the state of Victoria and then fleeing into the nearby Australian Alps has been described as one of the most extensive searches in Australian history.
Victoria police said on Monday they had shot and killed a man in a shootout on a farm in the state's northeast. The man is believed to have been the wanted police killer.
