English wine from Sussex gets origin protection in the EU – on the day five years after the UK left the union on January 31, 2020.
The products from the counties of East and West Sussex are described as a "broad range of light wines, including crisp dry whites, fruity reds, and elegant rosé".
"Sussex's unique terroir (soil) makes it an ideal region for producing grapes of outstanding quality for still and sparkling wine", it says in a press release from the EU Commission.
