"Dear England" (TV4 Play).
Before German Thomas Tuchel took over, Gareth Southgate was the England national team manager. He achieved great success by inspiring his players with a low-key leadership style and a gentle kind of patriotism. It became the inspiration for the play “Dear England.” Joseph Fiennes played the lead role and is reprising it when the play was made into a TV series, just in time for this year’s World Cup.
“Tip toe” (HBO Max).
The highly topical, critically acclaimed British drama series depicts the conflict between two neighbours, the gay bartender Leo (Alan Cumming) and the conservative Clive (David Morrissey), in a world where misinformation spreads easily and the conversational climate has been turned up to high gear on social media.
"Life, Larry and the pursuit of unhappiness" (HBO Max).
Larry David is the co-creator of “Seinfeld” and “Swim Safely Larry.” In this sketch series, which comes just in time for the United States’ 250th anniversary, his typically whiny sense of humour is rekindled in a tableau of famous moments from American history, where he appears as if he were some kind of Forrest Gump.
"The Black" (SVT Play).
TV version of horror master John Ajvide Lindqvist's novel "Summer 1985" about a group of outcasts on an archipelago island who, in the shadow of the Live Aid gala and other typical 80s events, suddenly discover a captured mermaid. Rolf Lassgård plays a supporting role as a man from the archipelago who is full of secrets. The series premieres on July 24.
"Ted Lasso"
Speaking of football. On August 5, the fourth season of Apple TV's popular comedy series set in the world of football will premiere. When we left the plot three years ago, Ted (Jason Sudeikis) resigned as coach of the Richmond men's team. His new challenge will be to coach a women's team in a lower division.
