According to the region, the victims are a woman in her 50s and a man in his 80s. In addition, a child is being treated for minor injuries. A man in his 45s and another child were treated in hospital for minor injuries before being allowed to go home.
Two cars collided on Bergsviksbron, south of Piteå, just before 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Piteå-Tidningen reported.
The police have stated that interviews will be held with the people involved. The accident is being investigated as negligence in traffic and causing bodily harm.
The E4 was closed in both directions for a period as a result of the accident, where the cars reportedly crashed into the median barrier.
