Ukraine used hundreds of drones against Russia early Monday. The attack caused fires, including in an apartment complex and warehouses.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says the country's forces attacked an export terminal in the Rostov region and oil facilities in the Yaroslavl and Udmurt regions, far from the border.
Deaths were reported in the Rostov region, which borders Ukraine. Among the dead were a married couple and a child, according to Governor Yuri Slyusar.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, 276 drones were intercepted by air defence systems overnight.
Ukraine has escalated its retaliatory attacks against Russia in recent months.
