”Five people are reported to have been killed, including two women and a one-year-old child, who were found under the rubble”, writes Governor Viatjeslav Tchaus in a post on Telegram, and adds that the injured are being treated in hospital.

Three people from three generations of the same family were killed, according to Zelenskyj. A local fire chief is said to have received an alarm that his own house was hit by a Russian drone.

His wife, daughter, and one-year-old grandchild were killed, says Zelenskyj.

Zelenskyj accuses Russia on Thursday of trying to “buy time to continue killing”. He urges the West to put pressure on Moscow.

The fighting and attacks have escalated in recent weeks, while the parties have held talks in two rounds that are said to aim to bring an end to the war.

Early on Thursday, 17 people, including children, were also injured in a drone attack on the city of Kharkiv, according to the region's governor Oleh Syniehubov on Telegram.
