Neighbors who live opposite witnessed how the father in the fire-stricken family tried to protect his child from the flames and helped the child over the balcony railing. Then he himself jumped from the balcony on the third floor, reports HD/Sydsvenskan.

The alarm came in just after 7:30 am. When the rescue service arrived, there was heavy smoke development from the apartment with flames bursting out.
Probably it's one of these electric kick scooters that has started burning explosively with major damage to the apartment as a result, says Patric Fors, press spokesperson for the Skåne Police.
The apartment was completely burned out, says Mattias Johansson, duty officer at the rescue service in northwestern Skåne. The other apartments in the building were spared without damage. No crime is suspected.
