Early Tuesday morning, a fire was reported in a building in Hasselbacken in Vantaa, north of Helsinki, according to a police press release. The building is described by the Swedish-language service of Yle as a multi-storey building.
The five people who died, according to information provided to the Swedish-language service of Yle, were a family of two parents and three children. Another child is in hospital, according to Yle.
The fire is suspected to have been started by arson, and one person has been arrested on suspicion of a crime, according to police, who did not provide further details about the circumstances.
The fire is reported to have been extinguished, but the area remains cordoned off.
