Five soldiers were killed when an Indian Air Force aircraft crashed near a base in the northeastern state of Assam.
It is unclear how many people were on board the Russian-made An-32, but military sources told AFP the co-pilot survived the crash.
The An-32 is specially designed to handle extreme conditions and high altitudes and is often used in the northeastern part of the country, which contains mountainous regions.
