Many people witnessed the shooting, which occurred shortly after school ended on the afternoon of March 25 this year.
The 18-year-old man was shot dead shortly after getting on a bus outside Tyresö Gymnasium. According to the prosecutor, it appears to have been a case of mistaken identity.
“What emerged from the investigation suggests that the shooter had been assigned to shoot someone else,” prosecutor Sara Malmhester said in a press release.
Other shootings
A man in his 20s is being charged with, among other things, murder, while four others are being charged with aiding and abetting. According to the indictment, the man suspected of murder has confessed. The prosecutor is seeking his deportation if he is convicted.
The case is linked to several other shootings during the same period.
“It has also emerged that the murder is linked to several other shootings that took place in the Stockholm area and Malmö during March,” Sara Malmhester said.
“Among other things, the crimes are suspected of having been committed on behalf of the same perpetrator. That person is being held in absentia on suspicion of instigating the murder, but has not been found and is not included in the indictment.”
Tidy apartment
The man was taken into custody in absentia this spring, suspected of a number of serious crimes. At the time, it was stated that the suspicions included instigating two murders in Vårby and Malmö, which are suspected of having been committed by the same 15-year-old girl on March 24 and 25, respectively.
The four men suspected of aiding and abetting the murder in Tyresö deny the charges.
They are suspected, among other things, of having driven the shooter to and from the Stockholm area in connection with the murder and of arranging a so-called “press apartment” for him - a temporary apartment to hide in after the murder.
