Earlier in September, FIS announced that both the World Ski Championships and the Alpine World Championships would be held every year instead of every other year.
But the plans are on hold.
The decision was made at a FIS meeting in Geneva, Switzerland, on Sunday. However, the plan is still to hold the World Ski Championships every year from 2032, except in years when there are Olympics.
The proposal to change the World Cup schedule met with some criticism, not least from Swedish stars.
I’m afraid it will lose that extra spark, Ebba Andersson told TT after the announcement.
The next World Ski Championships will be held in Falun in 2027. After that, Lahti in 2029 and Oberstdorf in 2031 await.
