Russian Cross-Country Skier Alina Pekletsova Cleared by FIS for World Cup Competition

Russia is making a broad comeback to international skiing. A total of 94 Russian athletes have now been cleared to compete in the World Cup.

The International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) has updated its list of Russians with neutral status for the fourth time.

In addition to 94 athletes, 56 coaches and other support staff have also been given the green light.

One of the new names is cross-country skiing talent Alina Pekletsova. The 20-year-old is now one of 13 cross-country skiers on the list.

Olympic gold medallists Aleksandr Bolshunov and Veronika Stepanova are still missing. Both have participated in propaganda campaigns for Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Earlier this week, the Russian outlet Sports24 reported that FIS had requested additional documentation to evaluate Bolshunov's application for neutral status.
