Möregårdh is the second seed in the tournament and one of the favorites. He dismissed the 39th-ranked Indian without much trouble, with set scores of 11-5, 3-11, 11-7, 11-5.
The World Cup is one of the most prestigious tournaments of the year, and Möregårdh is one of four Swedes in attendance. Anton Källberg, Kristian Karlsson and Linda Bergström are also in Macao, where the group stage of the tournament begins.
Later on Wednesday, Källberg and Karlsson will play their second matches in the tournament.
