The section between Häggvik and Hjulsta opens to traffic on December 6.
“This is a milestone for the Stockholm region,” says Tyra Wikström, regional director for the Swedish Transport Administration's eastern region, in a press release.
“It creates better conditions for a transport system that can meet the needs of a growing region and is less vulnerable to disruptions.”
Work continues on the remaining section between Kungens kurva and Hjulsta. The entire motorway link is due to be completed by 2030.
When the route is complete, it is expected to take about 15 minutes to drive between Kungens kurva in the south and Häggvik in the north, according to the Swedish Transport Administration.
