According to the evening newspapers, no one was fatally shot in Sweden in January. If so, it is the first month without a fatal shooting in almost eight years.

Both Expressen and Aftonbladet report that no one has been fatally shot since the turn of the year. This picture is consistent with reporting in other media, such as SVT Nyheter's ongoing compilation of shootings.

According to official police statistics - which do not yet include January 2026 - the last month without a fatal shooting was March 2018.

Last year, 44 people were shot dead in Sweden.
