Anders Sörensen recently took the step in as head coach in Chicago's bench and simultaneously made history, as the first Swede to lead an NHL team. The first away win (2–1 against New York Rangers) didn't take long, but the 49-year-old has had to wait a while to win at home in United Center.
When Chicago returned home from the away tour, the win came directly. Much thanks to 19-year-old super talent Connor Bedard, who scored the 4–3 goal against New York Islanders with only 54 seconds left of the third period. Connor Murphy then nailed the final result in an empty net.
It was very nice today, says Sörensen according to Aftonbladet.
We slipped a bit, but the guys deserve credit for keeping their calm. Many of the young guys continued to perform calmly even when everything was at stake. It was, in my opinion, one of the main reasons we won.
Chicago now has two wins and three losses since Anders Sörensen took over as temporary head coach. Next up are two more home games, against Washington (Tuesday) and Seattle (Thursday).
