Finnish golf got a new historical chapter on Sunday. Sami Välimäki entered the record books as the first player from Finland to win on the PGA Tour.

The 27-year-old Finn went into the final round in the lead alone, but the road to victory was anything but smooth.

American Max McGreevy chased after him and breathed on Välimäki's neck. But Välimäki showed nerves of steel, held his game together when it mattered most and secured the triumph by the smallest possible margin: one stroke.

In addition to the historic achievement, Välimäki also receives just over 12 million SEK in prize money.

The competitions at the RSM Classic in Georgia were the end of the PGA Tour season – on the same course where Ludvig Åberg won his first PGA victory in 2023.
