The person who was called to testify in a murder trial in Lidköping in 2022 will not be heard, reports P4 Skaraborg. The person had, as far as known, become the first anonymous witness in Sweden to be heard in a trial, since the law on anonymous witnesses came into force at the turn of the year.

One of the prosecutors tells P4 that they do not want to answer why the witness was recalled.

Lawyer Thomas Bodström, who defends one of the accused, speculates that one reason may be that it has been talked about that the person's identity has become known.

But since my client has no contact whatsoever with this person, it is nothing that concerns him, and therefore we cannot comment on it, he says to the radio.

Judge Peter Stafverfeldt, who is the chairman of the ongoing trial, has previously told TT that he will raise the question on the day of the testimony whether it is still appropriate to hear the person anonymously.

Things can happen along the way. For instance, if the prosecutor finds out that the witness has not told the truth or that the witness has been identified by someone, said Stafverfeldt.
