Nearly 500 firefighters are battling the fire that broke out on Tuesday in Gohrischheide, at the border between the federal states of Saxony and Brandenburg.
In total, more than 100 residents have been evacuated from the three villages Heidehäuser, Neudorf and parts of Lichtensee.
The fires have raged over hundreds of hectares of land and were still not under control on Thursday. Parts of the fires have spread to a former military training area where there is a risk that ammunition will detonate, which has made it more difficult for the rescue services to access.
