72 personnel have been sheltered in rescue chambers at a depth of 1,700 meters. None of the personnel are injured and no one is missing, according to local media, citing the rescue service.
Employees who are in the rescue chambers are not in direct danger, says Boliden's communications director Klas Nilsson to TT.
Rescue services and ambulances, including an ambulance helicopter, are on site or have been called in. The fire started in a ventilation duct in the ceiling, but it is still unclear why it started.
The fire is not extensive, according to Klas Nilsson.
Our concern is the smoke; we must, of course, deal with it and get it out before we feel that the situation is safe again, he says.
