It was around 9 a.m. that SOS Alarm was alerted to a fire that had started in an attic in a five-story apartment building in the Bettorp area in northern Örebro.
Police and two ambulances arrived at the scene and the fire department evacuated the building. The stairwell was filled with smoke, and temperatures and the risk of the fire spreading were high, but after about an hour the fire department managed to get the residents out.
"All residents are out and unharmed," says Katrin Gelander, team leader at SOS Alarm, to TT.
The firefighting efforts are under control, she announced. It is still unclear what caused the fire.
The police have opened an investigation into arson, and a 35-year-old man has been arrested. A technical examination will be carried out at the scene.
